This video is inspired by @StealTheSpotlight's video on styling old trends in 2021! I thought this would be really fun to do, especially since I love promoting the idea of finding new ways to wear items you have in your wardrobe. I, for one, know that there's a few items from the 2010s that I could find new ways to wear! Hope this inspires you to try to rewear some old pieces as well :)

Thanks for watching!

ABOUT DRESSRELIEF
My name is Mariel, and I started getting into fashion in the past few years and am learning so much about it. I'm drawn to fashion as I believe it is an art form that not only allows individuals to express themselves but also creates a history and record of different time periods and generations. I've had a lot of fun learning how to put together outfits and use different styles to tell a story through the way I dress. I started this channel to share what I learn along my fashion journey and hopefully help others learn and find their style as well.

I post videos 1-2 times a week (every Tuesday!), mostly regarding fashion but may include a few beauty/makeup and lifestyle related videos as well. If you're interested in this content, please give my channel a shot and subscribe!

There's one thing that always makes me confused. How do people wear short skirts / dresses with warm tops or a lot of layers et cetera. You've got either cold legs or sweaty top. I know that tights exist but they don't feel like enough to make up the warmth difference. Maybe it's my climate or I feel temperatures differently.

I really dislike how my own generation (gen z) hates on something. Like not everyone is a priviliged white girl living in the us or western europe. Some of us spend more money on textbooks, education, save money for travel someday and a car, etc. Not all families are the same, and the whole ''CANCELED'' always seems to come from highly privliged families. I am not really fashionable but our baggy jeans are worth like 70-80 dollars which may seem a little to an american but we have extremely low wages and are poor, so for us, that is a lot of money and not worth a piece of jeans.

I usually spend around 18 dollars with our currency on jeans since I just need a pair of jeans that can last me like a few years. If they rip and are horrible quality they are usually under 10 dollars and extremely cheap. So I just buy not the cheapest. Yeah, skinny jeans restrict movement and you find it hard to squat and do exercise but baggy jeans are extremely hard to find. I gained weight and have wider hips and butt but my waist remains small, which is quite the problem when I shop for jeans, since I jump from size S, to M to L, to M, depending on the brand and never know what size I am. Jeans and clothes should be more of a basic, something you own cause it is important and not cause it is modern. I really never judged anyone on what kind of fit their jeans were, but more on whether they were mean or constantly said lies.

Skinny jeans are okay and no one should feel ashamed for wearing them. Instagram is and all social media is a lie, and outfit repeating is totally okay, no one is going to judge you or glare at you if you wear the same shirt three times, because you can style it differently after all. This is the fun of fashion with little pieces to make many outfits. But I see a lot of girls, priviliged ones cause no psychologically sane person would do Asos and Zara hauls each month, like buy 50 pieces and throw perfectly good clothes, that might go to someone who is poor but can't afford to buy clothes. Poor people can't afford to buy a new jacket when their old one gets broken, which is why quality pieces are an investment and are important, which makes me wonder why people who donate from wish hauls think anyone poor is going to buy it. I buy like less than 10 pieces of clothing for the whole year, I have to really love something to buy it and I don't want to contribute to overconsumption and fast fashion so I always thrift, because I can't support financially ethical brands.

Please buy less people and if you are going to donate, please don't give us clothes with hauls or food spots. It is offensive and generally rude to do that, just because someone can't afford to financially eat from restaurants 5 times a week or buy clothes each season, doesn't mean they are less of a person or deserve a worse treatment. Many people give clothes in bad condition to poor people and it is sad. - A fellow gen z-er ranting about something no one is probably going to read but I wish more people thrifted and supported sustainable brands.
