Honestly, I think we’re seeing a “jean democracy” with any style of denim being acceptable. Even now, it’s really not surprising to see straight, wide, skinny, baggy, bootcut, or flare jeans worn in public and sold in stores at the exact same time (same goes for low/mid/high rise). Sure, some may not be the hottest style at any given moment, but I don’t think they’re as passé in real life as some people on the Internet make it out to be.

I’ve concluded I’m never getting rid of any jeans bc every few years a new cut is back in style

“The actual enemy is Jean styles going in and out of style” AMEN. High waisted jeans are what I’m going to be wearing forever, no matter out of style they are - which I guess they currently are since apparently low rise jeans are what’s trendy now (I could never)???? Jeans are such an essential basic piece - you should definitely just wear whatever style you’re comfortable in because it’s such a personal thing to your body and comfort

I love how positive this video was. Not tearing down anyone's clothing choices. Plus I love the idea of reworking clothes you already own instead of buying a new wardrobe.

I feel like so many trends today are less forgiving and (at least mentally) comfortable than the 2010s trends. Peplum shirts, skater skirts, and kimonos were so much more flattering comfortable to wear (for me, at least) than the style now with crop tops, shirts tucked into your jeans (so you have to show your belly), tight baby tees, etc. Even cold-shoulder tops were easier to wear a bra with than the square necklines that are popular today. I really hope these come back, I still have a bunch of these laying around!

Fashion trends change so often to encourage people to throw away their clothes and buy new things. It’s terrible for the environment and we should all actively reject fashion and wear whatever we feel like wearing.

I think it’s awesome that thrifting clothing has gotten so much more accessible and “socially acceptable”. I started thrifting as a teenager in the 80s and developed my personal style from there.

It’s funny how mainstream fashion deems these outdated when they’re very popular in alternative fashion! Specially in the goth subculture, I can definitely say that skater skirts, high low dresses and skinny jeans are super popular! High low dresses are a popular silhouette for the romantic/vampire look. Skinny jeans with rips are cherished especially in the scene and emo department. Skater skirts are very flattering on everyone and often made with spiderweb or spooky prints for example. Very lovely video! Love your creativity 🖤

None of the clothes from 2010's were bad. It's just that we're moving into a new decade so we're looking back on it and we don't like it because a) we don't wear it anymore and b) we wore those clothes when we were teenager so we're associating them with embarrassing parts of our lives. Give it another decade and these clothes will be back in style

This covered some things I didn't even know were "outdated" like tube tops, strappy tops, and kimonos. Maybe I'm just in the wrong circles because I swear I still see them around. Chevron however is something you'd never catch me wearing again. It reminds me too much of that cringey period in my life.

this just proves the difference between fashion and style, and you girl have style. I'm amazed of how you styled this pieces✨

So basically, you can style anything in 2022, provided you give it a 1970s twist

I'm very confused as to how you made chevron look cute, and not like an outdoor decor pillow, but I'm here for it. As a 32 year old, these looks were my life so it's super awesome to see them re-styled :)

Wearing a chevron maxi skirt right now that I have had for more than 10 years. Still get tons of compliments on it when I wear it.

I will wear skater skirts until the day I die because they give a cute feminine/girly silhouette and they're super flattering on petite bodies.

I think if you have an hourglass shape in plus size, it can be SO difficult to find that perfect loose fit in a straight leg jean. it either looks too big in the waist or too tight in the butt/thighs :// thats why I really love stretchy skinny jeans they mold into my shape making me feel confident but leave some room for weight fluctuation :) loved all the looks youre so creative!!

This video is so helpful! I have so many skater skirts from like 2012-2015 and I still like to wear them but have a hard time styling them in a way that feels like I’m not cosplaying as my past self.

I think in the examples you showed the one detail that makes the outfits contemporary are the shoes - a shoe that is currently trendy makes the whole outfit look more fashion forward and current.

I couldn’t afford most of these trends when they were popular so I need a way to wear them now. Healing my inner child or something like that
