In this video, i teardown a 6R80 out of a ford pick-up, has a clogged screen. Scanning the car, i found a P0741 which i go a little into detail on this code. Problem was a blown converter. Next week i stall a transgo shift kit which is a standard rebuild procedure when doing this transmission. Thanks for watching, off to the shop today to get some work done. Please Like and Subscribe.

I just did the lead frame with no code. Mine is a 13.

It downshift one time while in town and speedo quit twice for a few seconds.
Great video and info on that 6r80. Thanks for sharing

This video helped me keep track of all my parts for disassembly and reassembly. Had to drop the trans again though, leak coming from the front. Ran a paper towel around the seals and they were dry. Only fluid appeared to be coming from the pump bolts themselves. Maybe it needs thread sealant or something. Any ideas would be helpful!

Hi Gary thanks for the best informative info I have found. Three quick questions if I could.
That spacer, is that an end play spacer for whole gearbox.
I notice you don't check clutch pack space, is because you have only changed clutches and not steels.
And last
You don't soak clutches. Do you have a method to ensure they are oiled up before operation. I like the idea but not sure if there is an oil up step.
Cheers Rob

Is there any difference in this 2011 vs a 2013 f150 3.5l 4x4??? I have a 2013, I assume nothing really changed between them since it’s the same generation.

I don't know how you keep track of all those shims and bearings and where they go back LOL. I'd have everything all mixed up LOL

Will changing the trans fluid extend the torque converter life before it will start slipping or is there nothing that can be done about that?

For trans work would you recommend a diyer try it or just send it to a shop? This both seems complicated and simple at the same time. Also for servicing transfer cases and diffs should they be services sooner then the trans or just do everything at the same time when needed?

because I can see that it hits in making the change to second

Gary, is this pressure tap on the ZF6HP26 also?

How many miles did this truck have and was it ever serviced? Also what was the longest lasting trans you ever seen before it needed rebuilt?

Idk why mechanics say the 6r80 is a reliable transmission when the torque converter is an issue. If it can’t last beyond 200k miles regularly serviced then it’s an unreliable transmission.

What fixture are you using to hold the 6R80? I seem to be having a hard time finding one. Do the universals fit?

Wow it is just like a ZF 6HP26 only crappier
