I live in Rhode Island and I am surrounded by pine and I always have cotton balls and Vaseline and ranger bands and ferro rod's with me

You ain’t done survival until you have slept in a snow cave and snowshoed or skied for days and weeks on end with a wolf dog by your side. Had my best fires in fifteen feet of snow!

Best way to train is never leave home with out dry fire starting material.

Some People make the rope thing to complicated buy some clothes line rope cheap and does the job.

I dont get it. a fire aint gonna keep you dry, doesn't block the wind. If you're out there without at LEAST a bivy to block the wind and rain, you're out of your mind. A fire is not enough . You've got to either have a membrane of some sort, or find/make some sort of shelter from the wind and rain.
