It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than himself. If there's one thing this version did better than the MCU, it was showing New York. It always felt like a city with real locations such as this one. The MCU used too much green/blue screen and it was detrimental to the feeling of the place imo. The MCU also didn't really have any of Peter swinging from insanely tall buildings and that was sorely missed. I know that Jon Watts wanted to show other things that hadn't been done yet in Spider-Man movies (the ferry, Statue of Liberty etc), but I really missed the sense of the city.

I guarantee you if they kept this "trilogy" going for one more film, people would have said this trilogy was the best. It's the only one brave enough to kill off the love interest.

I find it interesting that Gwen points out how this is affecting her without also bringing up how this is affecting Peter as well and not listing that as a reason for why they should end this. If I were Gwen I don’t think I would be making such a push to get someone to stay with me when it’s clearly eating them up inside as is clearly happening to Peter here. She’s right that this isn’t her father’s choice to make, but do you know who does get to make that choice? The person that made the promise to him on his deathbed.

Peter predicted the end of the film when Gwen falls to her death in the clock tower and her death haunts him forever. He was right all along and it ended up happening anyway😔

“you have done this to me again and again” is such a powerful line obviously I understand both sides of there argument but that line hits too deep when you’ve been through a relationship and you’ve tried again and again to make it work and it falls back on you, the one who try’s the hardest.

Gwen, the promise Peter made for your father to keep you safe is for your own good, he’s your dad and it’s his job to protect.

Going back through this duology it's just tragic that Peter constantly worries about getting Gwen killed ever since her father's death and then his greatest failure ends up happening anyway.

I can relate to this scene. Something similar just happened to me tonight and it sucks. But even if you like the person a lot you have to learn when to let go when you're hurting each other.

This will forever be my favorite Spiderman movie, the stakes he's dealing with, saving the city while trying not to sacrifice his personal life, it is portrayed and explained so well in here, I really do love the storytelling.
