[027] Lego Technic - Two-way to One-way #03

Показать описание
as I disassembled my auto-dice, I used the 2 freewheels to make a new version of my two-way to one-way mechanism
it consists of a input and output axle, behaving as follows:
- input clockwise or anticlockwise = the output engages, turning clockwise with the same speed and torque, the 'or' part is the whole reason of the mechanism =)
- output clockwise = input remains idle
- output anticlockwise = blocked
- too small angles of input = no output motion
as the freewheels are gravitational loaded, the mechanism will not function if the axles are perpendicular to earth, high velocities will hamper the mechanism too, as the diode-pins, per centrifugal forces will disengage
the ratchet in this model consist of a technic axle 3 with stop on a 20 tooth gear, I called it pin-ratchet® and I have invented this myself and I’m not aware of previous uses outside this channel, if someone does, please let me know.
the principle of this mechanism is a double ratchet illustrated on the video:
‘Mechanism for converting two-way to one-way rotation 1c’ from youtube user thang010146 and also on the mechanism n° 49 on the 507 Mechanical Movements site
the only use that I’m aware of this mechanism is to power watches using the wearer’s movement: in mechanical ones, to wind a spring and in quartz ones, coupled to a miniature electrical generator, to charge a capacitor or battery
there is also an idea by Dr. Adrian Zurbuchen to power pacemakers, using the heart as input
I guess it could be used as a part of a mechanical transmission of power, search for: 'Jerker Line Systems'
