Stair tread extension

When my condo was built, for whatever reason the last 3 steps after the landing were almost 1.5" shorter than the other treads. See how I fixed this problem.

that's a great fix for a big safety issue. I think the return (extension to the left at the bottom) looks really good.

How did you attach the extensions? Glue and finishing nails? Do you think I can do this on an old staircase that has balusters? I could knotch out the baluster location on the far right side of the tread and riser extension as well if recommended. Our treads are all 9 1/2 and it’s quite steep.

Now what happens if a patio door going to the back yard is in the place of that closet? That extra stair depth would be sticking out in front of the door.

I have the opposite problem. My stairs going up are narrow and only 10.5 inches wide while the bottom 3 are 11 inches

I have the same problem but my stairs has 15 steps. Do i have to add 1 extra 2x6 for each step all the way down?

Your explanation is garbage Bec you didn’t explain the new height or how thick the new treads to make it 11”or specifically explain you didn’t cut or replace a new treads or you just add a small piece on the end of the tread to get the 11”
