In places particularly hard hit by the corona virus pandemic and with severe limits on people leaving their homes, conditions may exist to grant general absolution to the faithful without them personally confessing their sins first, the Vatican said.

The Apostolic Penitentiary, a Vatican tribunal that deals with matters of conscience, including confession, issued a notice March 20 that while individual confession and absolution is the normal means for the forgiveness of sins, “grave necessity” can lead to other solutions.

In a separate decree, the Apostolic Penitentiary also offered the spiritual assistance of special indulgences to people afflicted with COVID-19, to those in quarantine, to medical personnel caring for coronavirus patients and to all those who are praying for them.

Ex-Parish Priest: Rev. Fr. Daniel Cerofolini (1919 - 2015).
St. Mary's Catholic Church. Dubai, UAE.
Recorded during: The Good Friday Service

From 1976 to the blessing of the new St. Joseph's Church in Abu Dhabi, Fr. Daniel was Parish Priest of Abu Dhabi for 8 years, then of St. Mary's Dubai for 20 years - with a short stay in Al Ain in the mid-80s. As Parish Priest of St. Mary's he built the new St. Francis of Assisi Church in Jebel Ali which was inaugurated in November 2001 and became an independent parish. Fr. Daniel was loved by everybody; his leadership was strong but also just, he gave himself totally. For many years he was also Regular Superior of the Capuchin Friars in the Gulf and on the council of the Bishop.

Rest In Peace Fr. Dan.
