@Shift4chizzle if you only know angles, you can not deduce side length. imagine a small triangle with certain angles, and then imagine that same triangle enlarged; the angles do not change, but the side lengths clearly have.

What if you need to find the angle and you have the both of the sides?

Your videos are great man, really helpful! I have a question though. How would you find cos(x) if x is NOT 30, 45, or 60? I get how everything plugs in, I just can't use a calculator on tests. One of my homework problems is:

|_| /

| /
| / c = 8
| /
| /
| 33/
| /
| /
|/

Top left corner is 90 degrees and the bottom angle is 33 degrees with hyp of length 8. I need to find the two missing sides and the missing angle. I get 57 degrees for the missing angle. 8 * cos(33) = adjacent side, right? Also, 8 * sin(33) = opposite side. My question is what is the calculator doing in order to get the value for cos(33) and sin(33)?

How do you know that you have to use sin?

So basically it's the side you want the value to over the side value given??

What if you don't know the angle?
