Honda Auto Engine Idle Stop Problems Leads to Lawsuit

Are you a Honda or Acura owner who has experienced problems with the auto idle stop system? You may have some company in your struggles. A new class action lawsuit against Honda has been filed over the allegedly defective system.

My 2020 odyssey on start up just push disable button as part of routine, motor memory. I think this is the dumbest thing on a car, nothing but excess wear and tear!

My 2021 Passport had the recall which involved a software change and possibility a new solenoid valve.
Personally I would have preferred it if the auto stop had just been permanently disabled.

'20 pilot here. bought the $80 harness and installed so that auto stop is disabled on start-up. i have the option of turning it back on if i want to, but i would NEVER turn it back on. major negative on this vehicle. i got stranded twice in busy traffic with a no restart. i just about got hit by a car when i attempted to exit my vehicle on the first occurrence.

I turn the option off each time I start my Honda pilot 2019. It has become a part of my muscle memory now. It’s the dumbest option I could think of

I love my Honda Pilot, an excellent SUV. But this defect of auto engine idle, is so so annoying.

So I just bought a 2021 used CR-V. The feature is annoying, but it sounds like the CR-V doesn't have the faulty restart problem at least.

Hey this happened to me last year & I was stranded in my 21 Acura TLX Type S & they wound up changing the battery later on but what an embarrassing & dangerous situation because it happened at night

My 2022 civic hatchback has issues starting at times like this. It’s the manual version. If it shuts off then I have to shift back into first gear right away for a quick stop, it won’t turn on and will make me switch back into neutral then back to first while almost getting rear ended

IMO - the auto idle stop system on any car is one of the dumbest ideas that auto manufacturers have implemented in the history of automobiles.

There was a NTSB recall and Honda applied a software update to my ‘21 Ridgeline. Why do we need a lawsuit? The issue has been solved. 😊

I hope honda got sue their pants off for this unasked for stupid feature. It increase engine damage and scare the hell out if driver when emergency brake and it shuts engine too. Who asked for this annoying feature driver has to keep switchng off every time one starts car? Go woke, go broke honda. Keep the stop start and won't buy another honda.
