I remember when Splatoon 2 was announced and Pearl got an immense ammount of hate and Fans were complaining about missing Callie and Marie. The new idols look great and im excited to see more of them

I think people start to love Big Man because out of all the idols in Splatoon, he's the only male idol. He's also the only idol who isn't an Inkling or an Octoling.

Tho making forehead jokes on Frye is like a culture in the fandom since we have Pearl, I don't really get why she gets a lot of hate just because of her style. She's really gorgeous and I like the creators improve their designs, same as for Shiver.

My unpopular opinion:

I honestly think Frye gets too much hate. Like sure, her forehead is definitely something, but I honestly like her personality a lot! She seems pretty happy and energetic. Big Man has a meme-bait name but seems pretty normal, still think he's overrated. Shiver is my personal favourite. Chill, I love the name and especially design! I personally love how much races were involved in this Splatoon game!

My favs are big man and frye. I dont need to explain big man, but I just think frye is cute and her unique dialogue makes me like her even more. I like Shiver and all, but besides the cool design Shiver doesn't really stand out to me and I just prefer the others

Either way, when Splatoon 2 was announced, everyone wanted Callie and Marie back. But eventually everyone got used to them so I'm guessing everyone will get used to Frye, Shiver, and Big Man
