Excellent explanation. It amazes me how many people on YouTube explain things better than teachers in a classroom.

I have two students whom I am helping with algebra since they are home bound due to medical issues. I have looked at many different video tutorials, and yours are by far the most helpful. Thank you on behalf of my students for making these lessons available. Your lessons are so complete with clear and easy to understand instructions and a variety of problems that I don't need to look any further. Thanks again. I really do appreciate you doing this.

An internet teacher might be more real than a "real teacher" !

Think of it like this: 6 apples plus 5 cars does not equal 11 apples. Also, 6 apples plus 5 cars does not equal 11 cars. Think about that, and then try to apply the same concept to mathematical entities.

6a + 5a is 11a.
But 6a + 5b = ... Those can't be combined.

6 root 6 + 5 root 6 = 11 root 6
Buy 6 + 5 root 6 = .... Those can't be combined.

Hope that helps!

Very thorough. A wonderful refresher course.

I recently had to move from a private school to a public school, and the level of math was tremendously dumbed down. I forgot a lot of stuff, granted, I was still making A's, but I would personally like to hold onto that information.

at 2:29 he takes the perfect square of 4 and moves it to the other side joining the other 4, but why does it become 2? Shouldn't 4x4 be 16? When you move the perfect square to the other side do you add them?? Help pls

thank you to teach me how to solve sir,

could that last one reduce to the square root of 1 since 2/2=1 ?

my god thanks for saving me, my teacher can't teach at all T.T

No, because it's radical 2 over the number 2, not 2/2 or radical2/radical2, so they're not 'like terms', and so you can't reduce it. XD

since its only you and nobody else its easier to concentrate

You skipped a step on how the 4 in 4x3 broke into 2
