Also Jon Pertwees fellow Doctor Who actor Patrick Troughton also served in the Royal Navy. He rose to the rank of Commander RNVR (Royal Navy Volunteer Reserve) during World War Two.

The RNLI are an excellent charity organisation manned and funded entirely by volunteers. All who serve in it are absolute hero's but as it receives no government funding it is not part of the military

He was invalidated out of the RN and given a naval sick pension which he kept receiving until he died

Sorry but most of these were no real surprise because they were old enough to either serve in World War II (either voluntarily or as an conscript) or the national service after the war. It would have been much more interesting if you had listed those celebs who switched careers from military to the one that made them famous.

Craig didn’t serve in the military. He was made honorary Commander, same rank Bond had. He wasn’t in RNR or the RN.
