How to Impress Your Boss / #MarketingMinute 046 (Personal Branding / Marketing Yourself)

“Dress to impress.” “You can only make a first impression once.” “Tricks, tips, hacks, shortcuts, etc. to impress your boss, your friends, that special someone.” It’s getting to the point where people are more concerned with how you appear or how you seem than who you really are and, more importantly, what you do.

So here’s a time-tested method for impressing your boss. This isn’t a trick or a hack or a shortcut. In fact, it’s something that might seem odd for those in the “impression” business.

It’s this thing called… work. And you don’t just say it or write it on your résumé, you actually do it. You should do it when you first start your shift, do it throughout the time you’re on the job, and do it up until the time you leave.

But wait, there’s more… You should improve yourself to the point that you do it well. Learn to do better work in less time so that you can (and here’s the part that will impress your boss the most) so that you can ask your boss for more work.

So, want to impress your boss? Work effectively. Work efficiently. Improve your work. And ask for more of it.
