There’s one secret in Sonic 3 & Knuckles that is kinda neat. If you go into Sky Sanctuary as Sonic, then stand in a specific area facing Knuckles, then press down, he shoo’s you away

The headphone jack on the Sega Genesis was more used as a way to get stereo sound to the tv, and not for headphones for some people that really wanted stereo audio on their TV.

There's a way to use headphones with other consoles, but you have to be very clever with your cabling. It usually involves having a way to take the RCA audio plugs and plug them into an adapter or pigtail cable that outputs to a 3.5mm jack, and it's even more complicated if you want volume controls and especially more volume if you don't get enough volume. I personally managed to get my Sennheiser HD 560S working with my retro-gaming setup.
