This is Disappointing News For Animal Crossing in 2023

We've just gotten some sad news from Nintendo that has effectively de-confirmed a certain Animal Crossing event which was expected to be happening in 2023. I'll be sharing what has been confirmed and more details you need to know.

Disappointed but not surprised. Despite the enormous success of ACNH, Nintendo seems pretty hell-bent on pushing it aside and treating the franchise like a weird 2nd cousin with a funny-shaped head that's technically invited to all the family parties but gets manuevered into an out-of-sight corner if they bother to show up. Things will no doubt change when the next game gets closer (whenever that is) but Nintendo seems to no longer consider it a money-maker so it's back in the background.

I hate the way they treat animal crossing. I'm sad that this game is all but abandoned. They have a really stupid way of thinking sometimes.

Tbh, I just thought they were finally gonna announce Zelda items in New Horizons and bring back the Villagers. Almost shocked that nintendo didn't make a big collab. Then again they didn't add Inkwell either >.<

Again, Nintendo has been a major letdown for a franchise that's making more money, communities still going strong, streamers still streaming ACNH, and Nintendo ain't done nothing.

I’m guessing it was a Japan exclusive or something with a contract etc? Maybe they only have the tech for a concert in Japan and not in USA? Maybe they only have the older costumes over in USA, and couldn’t get the rest of it to USA in time? International travel has only been open a little while into Japan for tourists (not sure about Japan to usa) so maybe they couldn’t do as much pre-work to setup/hire/work it all out in time for this event?

They could at least release the zelda villagers and items. Nintendo needs to give something to the second best selling game on the switch.

It's already underwhelming when it comes to the current Animal Crossing series.

Truly think we're out of luck on any new content until the next console...which could be at least a couple more years, don't you think? But yeah, I don't think Nintendo is eager to pump out any more AC for a while, especially as they're riding off the waves of the Mario movie and Zelda success.

What I've set my sights on is inklings of hope for Tomodachi Life. But even that doesn't seem all that likely.

It seems now that the pandemic is over, there's less demand for life sims and games with long playtimes. I don't have any data to back that up, but at least in my part of the US, it seems that everything is "back to normal" and people are very busy again. Students are in school and adults are in the office. BUT! It's June. School's out. This could be prime time for any life sim debut.

fun fact, the holographic projector technology that was used for the Hatsune Miku concert was also used to bring back Tupac for one more performance at Coachella in 2012 (RIP king 😢)

Honestly, considering Pocket Camp is beating Mario Kart Tour sale wise, it's pretty clear they only care about doing the bare minimum and since Pocket Camp still makes tons of money today, as long as they're making money, they don't care about their main line games. Not trying to subliminal message you into quitting Pocket Camp, do what you want obviously but at this point, the only way to get the devs to wake up and treat the series right again is to stop supporting Pocket Camp. That game takes minor effort for them to do while making tons of money. It's basically just polished New Leaf graphics and most of the design is taken from New Leaf anyway. Regardless of how unfinished New Horizons feels, it's clear the series is popular, but if Pocket Camp suddenly died tomorrow, they'd have no choice but to start working on the next game be it a spin-off, a remake or a brand new entry in the main line series. They're just doing this to buy more time, do less work to push off the next game while making money and laughing at their consumers all the way to the bank.

I could care less about concerts. First and foremost, I’m a gamer. I rely on Nintendo to provide games and content, not music. And I especially don’t care if it’s missing from an event that most of us aren’t even attending.

This wasn’t a criticism toward the channel’s creator. He just asked us to comment on how we felt about there not being a concert, so I did 😊
