Mexico Won't Impose Russia Sanctions, President Says

Mexico's President Andrés Manuel López Obrador reiterated Wednesday during his daily press briefing that the country will not join others in imposing sanctions on Russia over the war in Ukraine.

"We do not want to get directly involved in imposing sanctions on any country," said Lopez Obrador.

"We want to maintain a position of neutrality, as we have expressed in the United Nations."

Mexico has condemned Russia's invasion, but has refused to follow the U.S. and other countries in implementing sanctions.

López Obrador insisted on a peaceful settlement of disputes as it has "done throughout this unfortunate conflict."

Mexico has no dog in this fight, it would be immensely idiotic for Mexico to get involved in problems that do not concern us. Mexico has nothing to gain and a lot to lose if they get involved in other countries problems. Especially when they are on the other side of the world and do not affect us. This is why the president is instead striving to insulate Mexico from the shocks of globalization by creating auto-sufficiency in the Energy and Fuel sectors of the economy.

That way those countries on the other side of the world can do war to their little heart's desire and we will be just fine on our side of the planet.

This is the global strategy that AMLO has been stressing to Biden and Trudeau. Since they have their heads up their asses AMLO has also been more focused on Latin American integration and wants to form a Latin American version of NATO to defend ourselves from Chinese, Russian, European, and U.S. meddling and political/economic hostilities against our peoples.

Well done Mexico. At least they have the ba lls to stand for their beliefs. Too many western nations do whatever the US says and here the consecuenses, thousands of Ukranians dying because of NATOs encroachment and bullying towards Russia. Even tho I am not for war, I understand why the Russians invaded, their national security was at stake. They are doing the same thing the US would have done if it were in the same situation. Besides, cry me an F ying river, have you forgotten about Iraq, Syria, Vietnam and the dozen more nations that were invaded and decimated by NATO forces all in the name of democracy? Millions of innocent peoples have to bear the consequences to this day because of those actions. So if you are a citizen of any NATO nation, you have NO moral right to talk about this matter.
