5 years ago team Folk by the Oak were immersed in art, poetry and music in the wilds of the Lake District as we first gathered together our Spell Singers.
Our artist collective comprised of Karine Polwart, Julie Fowlis, Kris Drever, Rachel Newton, Bethany Porter, Jim Molyneux, Kerry Andrew and I was joined by The Lost Words authors and Robert Macfarlane, and it was a privilege to witness the beginnings of this incredible creative partnership.
We were joined by Elly Lucas who documented these magical days, her stunning footage providing the perfect content for our first ever video, lovingly edited by Ben Dave of Dot + Diode.
The first time we heard The Lost Words Blessing we knew it would have a huge impact and we are continually moved and delighted by the many messages of thanks we still receive for releasing this beautiful track into the world.
Team Folk by the Oak are so proud to ‘Walk through the world with care’ with the hugely talented and inspirational beings that make up Spell Songs.
