Let's discuss why Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition is more than just a late Wii U remaster on Nintendo Switch and What's next for Nintendo with the Metroid franchise.

Nintendo is in the perfect position to fully take over the gaming industry. Their business model is financially stable and the studios are solidly staffed with actual talent. All of their franchises have had success the last few releases while avoiding controversy. The next console has a built in player base thanks to backwards compatibility. They just need to keep prices down and a regular release schedule of good games to kick Sony off its throne.

Honestly, xenoblade X in general is in a genre that hasnt really been touched in over a decade (as far as i know for a jrpg) or even when X was relevant back in 2015. The heavy high sci-fi elements are sorely lacking in the gaming sphere that aren't western.

I really want them to go back towards the space opera that saga had, and X's definitive edition seems like a stepping stone towards that direction.

Been going back and playing through X before DE arrives and holy moly, the context we now have from 2 and 3 makes the story more cohesive, there is a couple lines that are pretty interesting regarding a few things that happen in the numbered series.

Metroid is a goated franchise at this point. Both Dread and Prime remaster are masterpieces imo.

As someone who is new to JRPGs and really trying to get into the genre, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 might be the best game I’ve ever played. Looking forward to Xenoblade Chronicles X for sure!

@playerssence - I have a question for you. So I repurchased and Wii U and Xenoblade Chronicles X with the Strategy guide about 2 days before Nintendo announced they were porting it to Switch. So... now I'm wondering if I should just wait and play the other Xenoblade games which I have yet to try or just go ahead and enjoy the game on Wii U. Do you suspect the story to be that much better? Maybe the online portion of the game alone will be enough reason to wait for the port?
