I suppose the notion of being “judgemental” refers more so towards directly interpreting someone’s actions or intentions at surface level and making a conclusion about their personality based on that alone. Not being “judgemental” could simply be to keep the options open - not concluding that someone must be this way or have had this intention based purely off of their actions on the surface, because you may never know what they were actually thinking. There could’ve been so many other reasons for them to have made this choice, even when their intent may appear the most obvious.

Imagine: someone you see at an ice cream stand chooses to buy a chocolate ice cream. The most obvious reason for this is that they like that flavour, but that also may not be the case at all. Perhaps they hate chocolate ice cream but their friend dared them to get some, or maybe they were buying it for someone else entirely. Maybe aliens are manipulating humans in order to buy chocolate ice creams from different stores all across the world for a survey about which one tastes best because aliens like chocolate ice cream and are planning to abduct the ones that make it best in order for them to become their personal chefs in whatever galaxy.

It could literally be anything, so I suppose the main agenda here is to not judge someone’s personality or intentions based purely on how they behave sometimes, especially when you’re not fully aware of their history and circumstances, because their experience on that matter might as well paint a completely different picture. Have an open-minded approach?

… or maybe this comment is too long and I seem to be completely missing the point. This is simply my perspective on the idea of being “judgemental” vs “non-judgemental”, you don’t have to take it as advice. Predicting on what kind of personality and opinions someone may have can also be a useful tool in order to be mindful of those around you and avoid any issues with them in the future, as well as protect yourself from unwanted troubles. Overall, setting a simplified opinion on other people may make one feel like they have an understanding of what’s going on around them, as the idea of being completely unaware about this “other side” of opinions can be overbearing - as if you’re losing track on what’s happening in your surroundings. Otherwise, simply thinking that others have such a dramatic, one dimensional (in terms of character depth) values and qualities helps paint a more interesting, fulfilling and narrative-like view of people, almost as if the world is black and white even though we’re all aware that it really isn’t.

It’s actually interesting how there can be so many different takes on this matter.

Sometimes being judgemental is needed but please don't stop using your knowledge to see the truth and to achieve this you must be judgemental not in anyway must it be used to help your ego feel your greater then others always be honest but without your ego manipulating your judgment.

hmm there are many situations where one needs to be judgmental given our lack of information and time in many experiences. When you feel a guy is creepy then you need to react appropriate to protect yourself and not think oh i shouldn't be judgmental and jump into a car with him.

Yeah, except that what those who say "Don't be judgmental" really mean is: "Either agree with me, or you're a hater, " i.e., their views/judgments are "correct." Similar to those who are about "compromise" and "cooperation" when what they really mean is that the other side surrenders and totally bends to their will, or else they're "toxic." Also, "don't judge" tacitly allows bad things to happen. For example, if nobody stood up to denounce Putin as a murderous nutjob, it's like giving him a green light. Life in the adult world is mostly about gray areas, and "don't judge" is black-and-white gibberish for kindergartners who are told to stop fighting during playtime.

I enjoy being judgmental. If I don’t say anything it goes un-answered and where’s the fun in that?
Being a cynical prick can pay off if the timing is dead on. It’s not always that way but when it is, it’s sweet. 😎

Oh no! I judged your misspelling of JUDGMENTAL before I even opened the video. I mean, all one has to do is look it up for correct spelling. Autocorrect probably tried to stop you.
I need more work.
