JIMI HENDRIX'S 'WHO KNOWS' OUTRO SOLO

In this video I demonstrate how to play a bit of the outro solo to Jimi Hendrix's "Who Knows" from the "Band of Gypsys" album.

The low notes on the record have a sound like a ring modulator, the wah really changes the character of the Octavia. Jimi's wah work was far from the just up and down patterns most people played. He used it like a sonic paint brush. that modulated other effects in his chain as well as the tone of his Strat. The remarkable thing about Jimi is that compared to today his effects chain was really quite basic, a way-wah, Fuzzface, Octavia and Uni-Vibe. Yet he managed to do just as much and more sound wise as any players modern rig. The only thing I wish he had was a delay, one can only imagine what that would have sounded like in his hands.
