The remake didn’t capture their love & passion as much as Lynch’s did. Also, Jessica bore the duke a son rather than the daughter she was commanded to bear by her order because of her love for the duke - it meant so much to him to have a son. So she defied her religious order and risked generations of careful planning of the Bene Gesserit breeding program. Huge deal but demonstrates what she was willing to sacrifice and risk because of her love for Duke Leto, even though he wouldn’t put a ring on it.
