Print:
CMYK, Cyan (C), Magenta (M), Yellow (Y) and Black (K), is referred to as 4-color process because the CMYK dots combine to form a pattern and overlap during the print process to make a specific color. CMYK is a “subtractive” color model because the inks absorb colored light. Ideal for full-color brochures, post cards, flyers, etc. and used in offset and digital printing.

PMS (Pantone® Matching System) is a single solid ink color (rather than being comprised of 4 ink colors as in CMYK), used in branding because of the color consistency and industry standardization. PMS colors are commonly used in the print industry as well as in fashion, home decor, etc.

Screen:
RGB (Red, Green, Blue) is used by screen and mobile devices to render color. RGB is an “additive” process where full saturation of the three colors render white, zero saturation equals black. RGB is specific to digital applications.

HEX (Hexadecimal color) is a six-digit code consisting of numbers and letters where each two-digit code stands for each of the three RGB color values. HEX is used for color standardization by designers and developers in web design.

Best practice tip: select the color profile that best suits your application.
