Fischer isn't alone. I've seen some radical Catholics and sedevacantists also condemn interfaith prayer meetings at the Vatican, and call John Paul II and other post Vatican II popes "anti-popes" for allowing these events. Kind of strange how sometimes extremists like Fischer and radical Catholics that are opposed to each other will suddenly come together on some issues.

The Muslim God is much the same as Jehovah, the Judeo-Christian God. I'm not surprised at his ignorance. Fundamentalists like Bryan think that every religion other than Christianity is false and demonic. And as for Pope Francis, he's been vocal about building bridges with different communities and focusing on unity and peace. He was simply trying to extend an olive branch to Muslims and I don't see anything wrong with that.

Wouldn't Arabic speaking Christians refer to God as Allah, since it is just the same word in a different language.

As a non-literal reader of Hebrew Torah who has done some research into its Hebrew I can see the phonetic similarity between the singular form of a popularly used Hebrew word for god and the name "Allah." Many to most followers of Rabbinical Judaism do not accept the sameness of "Allah" and "HaShem/Yehovah Elohym." It is not surprising that a Christian feels similarly.
