Nissan Leaf and some others have had V2G for a decade. No one much talks about it because Tesla doesn't. Yet. Hopefully LFP will encourage more brands. I'd like to see a government somewhere to require V2G in some way to push adoption. Adding the hardware to a vehicle is relatively cheap.

I think they will be one if the biggest companies in the world, not just auto

Only solar and battery may work in many places, but up in the north where I live we need maybe 70% of the energy in the winter when we have 20% of the sun. ;)

This is one area where governments could make a difference. They need to stipulate that all cars have V2G capability. If my TESLA had it, that would make it worthwhile investing in solar panels because I could store the energy generated when I am not using it without a separate expensive powerwall. Sadly Elon is not interested because he wants to sell more separate energy storage, so government intervention is necessary. Eventually everyone will have this, but it could happen sooner if there were more of a push.

Thomas Friedman put this out clearly in his book The World is Flat back in 2005. I've been arguing this and waiting for battery tech to catch up ever since. I must not be a great salesman as I doubt I've ever convinced anyone on the argument, yet here it is becoming reality. So excited to see it finally arriving

All cars built on the MEB platform (VW-group) will have V2G/V2H built in from 2022... VW-group will get into the "energy balancing business" and build a network of bi-directional charging stations. An international standard will come very soon and then there will be equipment for home use too...
