Okay so a few problems. Satellite internet already exists, the perks of this over that is ping and potential speeds. The issue being those speeds will be throttled with more users. Second the ping differential is only relevant for gamers really. Because of this difference starlink needs more satellites to achieve the same coverage and this increases cost. They already sell a dish at a loss and the monthly fees are significantly above those in rural areas might consider worth it.

Now add on to this that the satellites will deorbit and need to be replaced fairly constantly. For their 40k coverage that is between 5-20 billion of replacement costs across 5 years or 8k satellites up yearly equivalent to 20 starship launches. Musk says it will cost 11 Mil for launch which I call bs on since falcon is 62 🙄. But eh let's use that bs number. They means to just break even they need 1.2-4.2 billion annually. Monthly fee for starlink is 100, but let's give them even 2k annually. That means they need 0.6-2.1 million customers just to maintain. Currently they lose 2500 on a dish but let's say the cut it to 500. That means they need to also recoup 300-1.05 billion just on the dishes.

Okay so not unworkable so where does it get complicated? Well for one thing, they can't compete with anywhere with fibre optic so cities are off the point. Still not unworkable? Right? 🙄 Except you're lso competing against cheaper geostat sat internet. That just as higher ping. 🙁 Soo
