Building A Cisco Lab - Choosing An Access Server - Part 2 of 2

If you've decided to go the route of creating your own Cisco lab then you'll quickly learn to appreciate the presence of an access server. This box will allow a central point in which to connect to the console ports of each of your lab devices. This will end the frustration of moving your console cable from device to device as well as open up the possibility of allowing remote access to your lab.

There are many different access server products available, but this lesson concentrates on Cisco's own access server offerings which can be picked up for $125 - $200 on eBay and work very well in a Cisco lab.

My personal recommendations (in order of preference) are:

Cisco NM-16A (requires a modular router)
Cisco AS2511-RJ
Cisco 2511

I love how detailed and professional these presentations sound. And then you start swearing at some parts. Caught me by surprise. It's great.
