Ford Focus 2004 speedometer problem

MK1 has a standard problem with the dash. Eventually dash goes crazy so the indicators show bullshit info. I had a problem with mine, gas level was always different, sometimes was full sometimes was half full, either way dash was starting to fail so I replaced it. Bought a used one and replaced it, that is the easiest and the cheapest way, cause used dash is about 20 30$ but the repair of the one is close to a 100$.

I have a SVT Focus and from my research since I am experiencing the same issue I think it's the VSS. If anyone has any other comments or suggestions I'll follow this post

I have the same problem, the only thing I'm concern about it's the temperature indicator because I don't really care about gas or speed, did somebody fixed it or know what happens

i know very old post, but all this still happends today with the focus, resolder the muilti pins on the back of the clocks u will have to take the dash apart, so mark where the needles sit. with the speedo, its likley to be the gear box speed transducer thats faulty.

La mine la Ford focus mk1 cădea acul de kilometraj de la 40, 50 km dintrodată jos la 0 km. De mai multe ori.Am schimbat senzorul de viteză care se bagă destul de greu.Are 2 garnituri de gumă.De sus pus locul e stîmt.Am ridicat mașina, am scos fișa, am forțat cu patentul, l-am rupt.Am dat o gaură cu bormașina mică de găurit, am înfiletat un holşurub puțin mai lung 5, 6 cm gros de 4mm, am prins holşurubul cu patent de 200(puțin mai mare).Am bătut în patent lîngă holşurub paralel cu senzorul(drept în sus) de vreo 5, 6 ori şi a ieşit.Dacă te mai pot ajuta CU MARE PLĂCERE.

I have a 2004 Ford focus ztw 2.3 I can't even begin to tell you how much of a piece of shit these cars are multiple issues bearings instrument cluster shorted wires alternator issues bad grounds and mine only has 99, 000 miles on it!!! If someone wants to sell you one of these run!!!! Do not walk
