Yes! Five gallons minimum, I have no idea where people got the idea that bettas like small tanks. Bettas love their own territories and ten gallons is optimal but five is definitely ok too as long as there are places for them to hide and explore

I have more than 5 gallons I have an 10 gallon aquarium for 99, 99$ each of them! I also have 4 bettas in that tank and they seem to have good friends! And I trained my bettas by getting my finger wet and get some food on my wet finger make sure it sticks to my finger and, I feed my bettas like that they jump from the water to get the food easily! They’re so great!

Yes also get a heater for him and the water changes only have to be 25% if you do them once a week

Territories of Bettas are estimated to be approximately 1 square meter (or 3ft sq).  These territories are the thickly vegetated, slow moving streams, marshes, large vegetated drainage ditches (klongs) and rice paddies (Not paddles) of Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam, specifically the Mekong and Chao Phraya River drainage basins.  These ecosystems are shallow, though deeper than many aquaria, and extensive, providing ample space for establishment of such territories as well as a wide area for hunting insect larvae and finding mates.

and also get some tank mates like tetras but don’t get too many and make sure they are not bigger then your betta or else your betta fish will probably get scared

In the wild it would be amazing for a beta to travel a few feet from its home in a lifetime.
That’s why they get Kepler in small tanks.
Don’t waste time with water changes if you don’t have some kind of toxic scenario

This is good fish keeping, fun fact you can put a few female beta’s in one tank just don’t mistake them for a male short fin beta.

5 gallons is for a long finned betta. If you're getting a plakat 10gal is minimum, they need more swimming space. And for a king/giant betta 15gal

Mine is living in a 180 gallon 🤷🏼‍♀️ I would say 10 gallons minimum with lots of plants, roots and an interactive scape and you will see a way more active betta
