The extended pinky during stirring is what brought the whole thing together.

Can confirm... A good 50/50 spirits, and poly wipes on great, and you can brush it fairly easily as it's thin, and leaves no brush marks. Additionally, due to its thinness, it does take more coats, but the faster drying time helps to overcome this caveat. Using this as a final coat technique is a great idea. Thanks!

Besides just using spray or trying to use mineral spirits to get the air out of the bristles in a brush. This is the best method I've found to avoid streaks and dust specks.

I do this too but without mineral spirits, just straight poly. Will try this next time, thanks

Thank you for showing this. I was wondering if I should thin it out with paint thinner as I can’t ever get enough poly on before it starts to set and then it leaves globs or steak marks…gonna try this method today after I sand down the the poly.

Does it make a difference if you use oil or water based poly?

Is this oil based poly? I heard you can also use paint thinner. What is the parts ratio if you don’t mind. I’m using water based minwax in matte

I just built some new kitchen drawers out of maple and I want a clear finish.., the weather here in Milwaukee is getting cold so I can’t spray them in my garage and I won’t do it in my basement but your process looks like I could definitely do it in the basement… do ya think I could get a durable finish with ? coats of the poly mix.. I appreciate any comments you could throw my way… thx

I've got a satin poly water based made by general finishers. Will this method work the same??

What are your thoughts on hard wax oils?

Is this table custom-made? What is the wood that was used and what is the name of the stain applied?

Nice, do you apply multiple layers, sanding in between? I’ve never used an oil based poly.
Thanks

My waterbase stain has an odor. If I mix mineral oil with polyurethan... apply it on top of my water based stain... will this cut down the odor? Could I put this on top of my water-based stain

This is thin and will need more coatimgs. Newbie here, how long do you waot between each coat? Lets say the ratio is 50/50 assuming 1sqm area

How would you touch up a roasted maple guitar neck that had the edges rolled and sanded so that the finish still looks even?

So would this be a good method to use if you sprayed a oil based Polyurathane and got a low orange peal finish?

I'm thinking of wet sanding with 3000 grit. Then do this to bring back the mirror finish before letting it all dry for a week and buff it with automotive clear coat swirl remover.

I will try this.... sanded a ~60 year old maple table top that had heat stains. Coated with oil-based Poly a few times (sanding in between) but still have lines as if I missed spots. Using a old rag added about 20% mineral spirit but will try 50% now.... seems it dries fast but still get thost damn lines... lol.

Can you use methylated spirits to thin it?

Will this stop be from having bubbles? I’ve tried everything! I keep getting bubbles. Even bought an ox hair brush still bubbles. Should I just sand them out and then do the wipe on?

Can you add this mix to a stained finish?
