Pro Tips from Wayne:

1). It is very important to note that the levels of macro and micro elements in the water will vary based on the salinity.
2). Incorporating the Neptune Apex with your ATK gives the hobbyist more precise management of dosing kalkwasser (calcium hydroxide) because the ptt probe can be programmed to send alerts and even turn off the ATK if the ptt levels increase to dangerous levels due to dosing equipment failure or too strong of mix.
3). Kalkwasser tip: Mix in a separate container allowing undissolved powder to precipitate out of solution. Siphon out only clear mixture and add to ATk reservoir. Never add powder to main tank.
4). Immediately clean the Hanna glass tubes at the end of each test by rinsing thoroughly with RoPI/distilled water as the reagent can stain the glass and negatively affect the reading.
5). A safe range to aim for when dosing carbonate & bicarbonate is 8.3ptt and an alkalinity of 8.5dKH for mixed reefs.
6). For new reef tanks, test alkalinity daily while dosing until desired level is reached that matches coral uptake over a period of at least 2 weeks. Test weekly thereafter & calibrate ptt probe monthly.
