i have a tip for animating eye blinks a bit better:

1st frame, fully eye open

2nd frame, half closed eye

3rd and 4th frame, closed eye

5th frame, eye open a little

6th frame, eye open a little more

7th frame, eye opened a bit bigger that the first frame

8th frame, exactly the same as the first frame

I hope this helps!

This actually helped me too!! It helps a lot and is great for new animators!

But sometimes with high fps animations you need more in betweens, You need the first and last frame. You need to know what goes in between those frames. It makes it much smoother! And another thing that helps is using references. You can use yourself, or pictures online to help with the complicated scenes or poses you can't normally do just by thinking it. I've animated for 2 years and one thing I learned that will stick with me for all my time of animating is, Use a higher fps rate, Use in betweens, use references, (If needed) Try to picture the start, the middle, and the end, before animating.

Jeez sorry this is hecka long-

When you add only 3 frames it may not work out too well. Ine way to do it is copy paste the eyes and stretch the eyes outwards and slightly vertical. This will a bouncy effect, then take the original eyes and put that after the stretched eyes. After stretch the eyes inwards then create the half way part. Make sure that you make the eye lids go down and do that again just slightly more stretched. When you done create the eyes when they are closed, then copy paste that frame. Make the eyes go lower then. This is also for the bouncy effect. Copy paste the original layer and your done.

Why'd they choose an animation with only three frames, you need preparation frames before (and sometimes after) most movement including blinking please the app I'm using should know this

Edit: this could work, but I find it a far stretch to say that a three frame sonic animation taught you movement, order, timing, shapes, and more.

When I draw people blink, I don't be cheap. I draw frame by frame. The same for other things. I like frames.

This really helps a lot. I just need more videos to see how to make an actual animation.

I used to do 2, sometimes just 1 frame in between character movements. Now, I do 3-5 and my style has improved quite a lot since then. Like during my break from animation, I suddenly just got better. But then again, I watch a LOT of animated movies.

Better then that would be to watch a scene in .25 speed to see the changes slowly, but with enough frames available to make a good reference from
