A Fisherman's Tale is an 8mm live-action 'Horror' film that I made as a teenager, with friends Mick Wilkinson, Neil Maver (who play the main two roles), Hugh Graham and Liam Brodrick (all aged 16/17 years old).
The film was made over 45 years ago, over the Easter Holiday weekend 1976, shot on location at Longton Marsh (near The Dolphin Inn, Marsh Lane), near Preston, Lancashire, England, not far from my family home. Using a basic Bell & Howell Standard 8mm cine camera, with no sound facility; I recently put a soundtrack to the film for the first time in 45 years. I was already experimenting with animation prolifically at home, and throughout my teens, but this is a rare foray into live-action directing for me. I was inspired after seeing Alfred Hitchcock's storyboards for the thriller Psycho; hence you'll glimpse some of my original storyboards of which I've added a page to the end credits.
It's a pleasure to share a film that has sat in a box for so long, that I never imagined would ever see the light of day again never mind any kind of audience. I hope you enjoy, and are not too scared.
Thanks for watching
Nick Park

I've just found out about the 2 films on your channel, brilliant!

Would just like to say I'm a huge fan of your work. I've been watching Wallace and Gromit since I was a kid, they're a huge part of who I am. I actually wrote a letter to you at Aardman along with some plasticine models I made when I was a kid. I got a reply, telling me that you was very busy at the time working on Chicken Run. I'm 31 now and coincidentally you're most likely very busy working on Chicken Run 2 at the moment, haha. I never got into animation as a profession (one of my regrets), but I still love stop motion and that's entirely down to W&G and seeing it from such an early age, thank you!

Found out that you have a channel haha

But I’m an huge fan on your work and stuff, my question is are you gonna upload early projects that you made back in 70s-80s?
