Hey Tim, you should test the EOTF tracking on the "Gaming HDR" mode, as this mode seems to be a lot more accurate. Both the Gaming HDR and Cinema HDR modes have the brightness boost on without being able to turn it off.

The Cinema HDR mode adds a weird sort of filter over the scene, making it the worst mode out of the bunch.

I purchased the PG32UCDM based on your recommendations, and it is the single greatest upgrade I made during my new system build.

Thank you, Tim and Steve, for making great content for us consumers.

Are you going to review the Samsung G80SD?

So what is the best settings? Kinda hard to be sure lol for the ROG I’ve got no idea what to put the settings at, for bright shooters, to dark background story games

I love that the Gigabyte FO32U2P also offers APL Medium and High for SDR.
I enjoy SDR a lot more on APL High than on its default low.
Putting the gamma to 2.4 solves the issue with APL High being too bright on dark scenes. I'm really happy with it how nice the colors pop out now despite SDR.
Of course the dimming on a bright scene still happens and thus my SDR has bad EOTF too, but for me its the best image I could get out of the FO32U2P. So what I use for SDR is:
Picture Mode: Default
APL: High
Brightness: 50
Contrast: 50
Sharpness: 5
Saturation: 10
Super Resolution: 2
Black Equalizer: 0 (why would I destroy 100% black being 100% black? just nope)
Color: Red: 96, Green: 99, Blue: 100
Gamma: 2.4 (fixes brightening up of dark scenes by the APL High, keeps the 1000 nits on low percent windows. Color saturation seems greater on 2.4 too)
This gives great color popout on SDR.

Watching this from my PG32UCDM, bought cause a couple of vertical lines of my LG 27GN950 completely died near the middle of the screen, got the 10% preorder discount and I was very skeptical about OLEDs but I'm loving the experience till now

My biggest issue with this display is that it randomly turns off. Current lead idea is that it’s related to vrr. Also with 105 update they broke the standby mode, now you have to click on the display controls to bring osd to force it to wake up after standby/sleep, which was not an issue on 103. It feels like asus was rushing the fw for this thing, and is still struggling to iron out all the software issues.

Hey you missed the changes to the other non console HDR modes which all are brighter now too! They also have different pq eotf tracking which might be what some people might prefer as far as I know the gaming HDR mode doesn't make darker scenes too bright but sacrifices acuracyfor brighter elements. You should def include this information as Asus failed to mention it and is highly relevant to users!

Can you make a video on the color settings. Can’t find the right guide for color setting figures.

With the Alienware AW3225QF, I found out that using Dolby Vision Birght was the best option for movies and shows, as it gives way better pop for highlights than the HDR1000 mode even though it slighly lifts the middle tones, If only they fix the EOTF tracing.

Is it possible for this kind of update to be brought over to other qd oled panels too? Like the aw3423dwf

The monitor looks interesting, but looking to get one is very difficult currently (EU based) it seems there is no stocks for this specific monitor.

I wish Alienware3225qf would update their firmware. I love it but I'm consdiring taking it back to get the PG32UCM. I prefer the curve and it sucks that they haven't updated the firmware to fix multiple issues and oversights. The yellow tint in the only dci p3 mode that allows a gamma slider is simply unforgivable.

are you going to make a review on the new samsung oled monitors (G6, G8)?

I've seen lots of people complain about dolby vision. Dolby Vision Dark worked really well for me with the Alienware 3225qf. It looks pretty close to the HDR True Black setting, . As a result, I've left Dolby vision (Dark) on, been playing games and watching content for a month. Works pretty flawless, colors dont look washed out, the bright parts look bright, looks amzing. Also calibrated the windows hdr profile. Using the latest version of Win 11.

I can understand people not wanting Dolby Vision Bright mode, as that sometimes washed out colour, but Dolby Vision Dark is on point. I also have an OLED TV which i use for dolby vision content, had it for 6 years, so if there was anything off with the monitor, id be able to tell as it would bother the crap out of me.

i hope next years monitors can get their shit together. all have DP2.1 UHBR20, unrestricted HDR on par with the same panels that are on TV's. and Windows 12, properly supports HDR, DV, HDR10+ etc.

Thanks Tim! I have this exact monitor and did the update while watching your video! Great work as always! Glad Asus makes the firmware updates for this monitor so easy.
