My seals saved my life from the nva when I was pretty much captured in North Vietnam. I will never forget that day

Yeah some of my scariest times was getting mortars lobbed at us constantly. Sometimes rockets.

The first shot is a ranging shot. The rest are coming straight at you… but if it lands on your position.. May God be with you

My Father would talk about how accurate the Chinese mortars were. You could tell it still affected him 30 years later.

All the reason why regular infantry is the most badass of all combat.

Bakhmut was so relentless you could start to hear the difference of how close the mortar will land. If you hear the whistle for more then a second or two it isn’t going to land close to you. The ones that whistle for a second and go boom are within 5 meters or so. I got out of there with no wounds, about 50 % of our team had shrapnel but after a 48hour mission every one of us were concuss, puking in the max pro.

I've just finished after fighting in Ukraine from sept 22 to August 23
And fuck me I completely understand this feeling it is the most helpless terrifying experience being under tank and artillery fire
The only way I can even remotely explain it is when you're in a dugout it's like a freight train has gone over the top of you you feel the blast in your chest you cannot help but wince and wait but once it lifts you all laugh and count your lucky fucking stars that you're still there
One of the coolest noises I've ever heard in my life is a tank round tumbling end over end after it ricocheted off the wall of a building sounds like a star wars blaster or something other worldly

With anything in life it’s always scary when that one person changes demeanor. I remember seeing my grandma cry for the first time as a kid. Like watching a super hero become human almost

These stories bring back terrible memories. If you hear it whistling, it's actually artillery headed your way. The first time I heard one fly over me, I almost shit my pants. Bullets just crack like a whip when it goes by. Not memories you want to keep.
