I don't think that IO Interactive "downgraded" the game although I do understand why this video exists. One of their main issues that Warner Bros. Interactive didn't retain publishing duties for Hitman 3 so IO had to use their own budget on the title. I'd say they still did a respectable job on the game personally and I believe they already made their money back from its sales

This is about optimization rather than a downgrade cuz anyone who has played hitman 1, 2, 3 in their respective launchers know how performance has improved over the years. But some of the changes are really unacceptable thotho especially 3:21

Hitman 1: bigger budget, published by another company
Hitman 2: Published mostly by IO, company left and they had a much smaller budget
Hitman 3: IO completely on their own

The fact that this series continued after 1 is a miracle tbh. Give them some credit

People are getting really unfair with ioi interactive they basically made hitman 3 as a new independent company so they make it with their own budget not a publisher one or so but they are making really player friendly moves here giving the other 2 games for those who had them and doing a remaster in graphics to them for free they didnt came out with a season pass and they throwing free updates with more content since this week there is already a whole feb road map and people complain about some minor details that they can patch anytime this game is gonna evolve a become a better game trust me but give it time

This video is actually a testament to IOI's skills as a developer. They managed to cut down the size of the third game to less than half of the first (the third one also includes 1+2, so it's even more insane), drastically improve performance and make several graphical improvements at the cost of random effects so obscure and unimportant that you need this video to realize it. There's certainly some issues with the game, especially in the ported old maps, but if this "downgrade" stops you from getting this game, then I suggest you move on to the latest triple A shiny turd like the annual cod release and leave the real games to real gamers. Thank you.

I went back to hitman 3 and saw that some bugs were currently fixed after the update, an example is that some objects on the hitman 2016 maps disappeared like the shadow of victor novikov, it was fixed. Just wait for future updates and not say it sucks just because of those game bugs. hitman 3 weighs 73gb with all its content meanwhile hitman 2 weighed 125gb with all its content.

I don't understand people that get angry at developers because of these comparisons. Look, H3, despite two previous games was made using money of IOI as an independent studio. The budget is smaller, which results in these things. And things like shot glass texture not being updated is present only on H1 maps - it can be fixed with patches. So please understand the situation! Because what they made to Hitman 3 maps is amazing!

While changes in this video do seem like a downgrade, I quickly realized that even though I played this game 60+ hours, I have never did stuff in these videos, as this is a stealth game so I never went around shooting random stuff :P

Any 'downgrade' is worth it a thousand times just for the much improved perfomance/loading times as the games went on. It felt like I could grow a beard in the time spent waiting for loading screens in the first 2

I can forgive most of it, because I know the budget was very limited for both H2 and H3, but I cannot understand or accept the fact that they made those games look so bland and tasteless when it comes down to lighting overall. For example, my favorite map from H1, Sapienza, which had an amazing feel to it precisely because of how light was treated in that game, became my least favorite map of all in H2 and H3, because they killed the ambient light and made it look like a depressing canvas of it former self - or at best completely dull looking, which kills all visual stimulus anyway. And that is not a budget thing; they used the exact same tool for that specific job as they did in H1, and failed miserably. Big time. All textures and colors now look lifeless.

EDIT: look at that scene, for example: 8:33 On the second and third picture, I feel the need to turn the lights on or something, to make it look clearer, more alive and more pleasing to the eyes. It feels like there's a constant eclipse following you in H2 and H3.

I love the hitman trilogy and especially the hitman's 3 cinematic feeling .
I am not playing hitman like call of duty, so i dont care about these physics.

As usual with videogames series, some things got upgraded, some got downgraded, but i think that they did a good job overall.

I know that they changed models in some areas and levels with better ones, changed the lighting, and even implemented the reflections of Hitman 3 in all the "old" levels from Hitman and Hitman 2.

Those reflections are not ray traced btw, but instead based on older techniques, wich means that they are present even on base PS4 and XBOX ONE, and they are really good, they even reflect the main character (agent 47) and all the NPCs.

Meanwhile in Cyberpunk you don't get reflections this good even on powerful PCs with all the different Ray Tracing options activated at maximum settings, and that game has a first person view, wich would've made cool being able to see your character (V) reflected everywhere, especially when you consider how much you can customize him/her.

This is nitpicking. Hitman 3 is basically the complete trilogy and it's enhanced in different areas.

the downgrades are clearly seen. especially with the car explosion. undestandable tho since this is their first full fledged hitman with their own budget. lets hope it get patched soon.

They exchanged the quality of all of those for better lighting, because downgrading is also more work on a technical level as those FX must be remade just to save performance on last gen consoles. This is proven with the 30FPS Hitman 3 has compare to 60FPS both Hitman1 and 2 had. Also, although the objects do not sim anymore for 4:00, but its crater tessellation is drastically improved. It is less of a downgrade and more of a tradeoff, and I am not sure if they made the right choice here.
