How to Drill a Lock

A very quick description on how to drill a lock the right way.
EDIT: The pic in the video is just representative of the lock I drilled. The actual cylinders are fundamentally different in construction. However, for most everyday locks this info is just what you need. Thanks to the eagle eyes for reminding me of that. KP

I understand you only used the diagram as a reference, but I was a Kwikset SmartKey customer who recently got locked out of a room thanks to this faulty crap. I followed your directions and in a little less than a few minutes I was able to drill through and bypass this horrible investment.

Thanks for the video and tips. Now to do some proper homework on lock reliability and a company worth investing in. Kwikset will never see a dime from me again.

@medrano180 Thank you and good snag. The pic is just representative because I didn't think of doing a video until I was holding the old cylinder in my hand. I'm sure the pins were just brass in the actual lock as I went right through them.

easiest way on a kwikset/weiser dead bolt is to drill right threw the key side left and right of the cylinder. threw the screw threads. from the inside the screws back themselves out then lock falls apart. then take a stanard screw driver and unlock the door.

dead bolts are not drilled that way most times.

Professional Locksmiths don't have to drill this Weiser / Kwikset Smart Key deadbolt in the diagram. You can open the lock in seconds without a key (unless the lock is faulty). Lots of videos how to defeat the Weiser / Kwikset Smart key locks. If you have this lock replace it before you get broken into.

yeh those smartkey internals are very intricate. Flat head screw driver take care of that haha

this is funny, thats is a smart lock. it has no pins. you cant dirll it like that>!!!!
