How to Properly Load a Grease Gun

How to properly load a grease cartridge into a grease gun. The LX-1152 is the grease gun shown in the video. It holds a 14 oz. cartridge. The LX-1152 outputs 4 oz. of grease per 100 strokes.

I watched this video a day too late. Yesterday, using a slightly different model, I unscrewed the plunger end, didn't know that the pumping end unscrewed, and couldn't figure out how to get the old cartridge out. After 20 minutes of needle nose pliers, a short crowbar, and different screwdrivers, I realized that the pump end unscrews. Well that made removal of the cartridge embarrassingly easy. Then I put the new cartridge in the wrong way (with the pop lid on the plunger side) and forced the plunger through the smaller opening. Then I had to stuff the spring into the cylinder with my hands and brute force, finally screwing on the plunger end. Needless to say, grease was all over me, the table, the tools, and the floor. Now I know. Thank you.

I've been working on cars for around 15 years, and I've never actually loaded a grease gun, as my dad has always done it. Now that I bought my own, and got the tube of grease, it litterally just hit me that I've never loaded one before lol. Amazing how I always seem to learn something new every day, even the simple things

Cool. First time I purchasesed a grease gun that loaded from this end. Before loading the first cartridge I had a hesitation. So I came here first as to avoid any potential screw ups. I had the cartridge figured correctly yes, but Low and behold I picked up 3 or 4 nice little tips I was not aware of. I must therefore express my sincere gratitude.

For people having trouble pumping the grease where it won't pump, you have to adjust the tip some, I went to the store and bought new grease fittings for nothing as my tip was too tight.

Wow, I've loaded so many grease guns while in the military that I still dream about it, lol. I will say that we didn't have easy gimmicks like the one you were using. We had to load it from a 5-gallon can of grease.
