Affordable Dual Lavalier Mic Kit - Saramonic UwMic9

At some point you’re going to want to invest in a decent wireless lavalier kit, they are wonderful for getting clean audio from your subject while being mostly hidden from view if not completely. However you get what you pay for and the good ones can be quite expensive.

The Saramonic UwMic9 is unique in that it allows you to take two TX (Transmitter) units and feed it into one RX (receiver). They accomplish this by splitting each TX unit to either the Left or Right channel from a stereo mix. This is amazing because you can use your editing program of choice and work with each subjects voice separately. If you’re in a time crunch and need to upload fast, like filming NAB Trade Shows, you can output a full mono mix and not have to do any work in post.

The audio that comes out is quite decent, as you can hear in the video, while it doesn’t quite compare to the famous Sennheiser G3, this mic kit will surely be adequate enough until you save enough money to upgrade your gear.

I bought these around 9 months ago and it's been an utter nightmare. I bought them for a shoot I was flying to and they stopped working mid interview. We lost a lot of great footage. After troubleshooting them myself, unsuccessfully, I brought them to a camera store and they worked just fine on the spot. The next shoot they failed mid shoot again and I had issues with them every time after that. Going through customer service was also a nightmare. They didn't want to replace the set for me. It ultimately took nearly 2 months from when I sent the mics back to when I got my new set. I would strongly recommend not purchasing these mics.

Hey Jason, I'm looking for a low budget solution for almost pro sound for small, two actor scenes in Los Angeles where we'll be shooting guerilla style in local parks. Have you tested the Saramonic system with actual actors in an Ext. Day scene? Just curious. We have no budget to pull permits and pay for park "monitors" (silly rip off) so we'll be going punk rock/run and gun style

We will be doing a narrative shoot and just feet away from the actors but I'd still like to know if you've tested on actors in a scene before I buy

NIce Review. Too bad you didn't mention drop out (as a comparison to the serious drop out of the blink 500/900 series) and show some of the configs of outputs so that we'd know. Thanks for what you did do and now I gotta go find the distance and drop out test along with some of the output configs.

Hey TLDR Filmaker, Thanks For this informative video but
I don't know anything about microphones and I don't know which one to buy,
Can you suggest me a microphone that has a very wide range and can record voice even in noisy places?

I picked up the Saramonic lav system a month ago. Not sure how the quality is yet. Will a Zoom audio recorder (used as a preamp) improve the quality of the audio? I'm using the system and the Zoom to record interviews for a documentary (directly into my camera).

Hey I have 2 mics and 1 receiver. I want to record 2 peoples audio and is the only way to get them on separate tracks on a H6N recorder, to have 2 receivers?

Is it true that the antenna's break quickly on this Saramonic system quickly? I was told that the antenna
are too stiff and they aren't fexilble, so they snap off in a few months, what's been your experience?

Hello TLDR, I am a narrative sound mixer using the DR-70D. I wanted to purchase two wireless lavs, I know this system is two transmitters and one receiver. Am I able to purchase another receiver and have two lavs? Also does this work with Countryman mics if I want a better Mic attachment! thanks

Hi, I'm here again.
;-)
Do you believe it is worth buying UwMic9 since Saramonic has released the Blink 500 pro? What is your recommendation between these two options?
I like the idea of using aa batteries.

Any idea if these perform well in a loud environment? My purpose is to record/shoot two guys having a chat in a loud environment where there are a lot of people and music present for an interview. Thanks

Great Review TLDR. This System Looks Like a Great Alternative For The Pricey Sennheiser Set-up. Thanks!
