If you walk on the grass side you'll get a nice crisp edge

String edging also known as light edging. I always teach new guys that when u string edge all u want to do is eliminate your grass hanging over concrete. It ok if it kinda touches. And u wana remain running on the concrete side so if u lose steadiness u can pull the string trimmer towards u withou harming the grass.

Depends if you’ve got a curved shaft or straight shaft trimmer. The rotation of the head is different for each and requires a grip and stance to edge with each strimmer.

It actually depends which way your string trimmer turns. Which is why you end up with grass all over the side walk. Try walking forward and watch where the grass goes...
