Evanna Lynch U-Turn On Rift With JK Rowling

Evanna Lynch is Luna Lovegood. I could totally see Luna having this perspective of seeing things from both sides. Good for her.

JKR donated so much money to charities she lost the title of richest person in the UK, she opened a rape crisis centre for women that should tell you all you need to know. more women agree with her we're just being bullied into silence as we have for millennia. Evanna has always been such a kind soul and an amazing role model.

Granted she showed up in Phoenix so we’ll be waiting a while, but I am interested to see who they cast as Luna this time round. Evanna simply owned that role and made Luna incredibly endearing. It takes a certain type of actress to play that role and I do not envy the casting directors trying to find that kind of actress.

The problem is cancel culture. It is not 'understanding" and having compassion for 'both sides". Whether you are firm in your beliefs and won't budge is fine. But seeking to destroy, excommunicate, and silence any other point of view is the problem with what is going on. Believe it or not, there have always been ideas people have been passionate about on different sides and they didn't invoke a mob squad to seek out to blot out socially and economically the opposition. At least not in what used to be considered "liberal" society. Destroying ideas has always been the path of tyrants and authoritarian regimes. What I am seeing now is that canceling is being used as a way of avoiding open, intelligent debate and rationally advocating for you own point of view. Cancelling is bullying and cowardly.

Such a gentle good heart she has. I agree with her. I would love for the conversation to reopen with kindness and for there to be healing. We have to find a way through. The only way to do that is to be willing to have a difficult conversation with as much dignity as we can muster.

Evanna is amazing; and unlike Emm Watson, she actually played her character close to the book. Watson’s disdain towards Rowling is ridiculous. All Rowling did was say that the word “woman” exists. She didn’t say that Watson wasn’t allowed to be pretentious anymore, or that she wasn’t allowed to play the same flat, unrealistically perfect character in every movie she’s in, so I don’t know why she took personal offense to Rowling’s tweet in the first place

I saw Lynch’s comments defending Rowling, I was definitely glad to see this since despite heavily disagreeing with Rowling on plenty, I feel she was definitely in the right here.

As I recall, Evanna's comments from back in 2020 were a lot softer and nuanced than those from actors like Daniel and Emma. In fact, I think it was because of the trans extremists that she had to delete her tweets and account in June 2020, because she was accused even then of "playing to both sides". And even back in June 2020, while Evanna had written two lines disagreeing with Rowling's view, she wrote several paragraphs rightfully condemning cancel culture and all the hate that Rowling was receiving.

I always knew that Evanna would publicly come around. She seems more level-headed and thoughtful than some of the other cast members. Also, her primary issue to begin with seemed to be a little less about what Jo said and more about the platform she chose to discuss the matter. I commend Evanna for being brave enough to come forward.

I don't blame the actors who just say, "no comment". There is little upside, because you're just going to anger one side or the other. I didn't even think that Lynch's original comment was harsh.

I think it is noteworthy that it is a handful of actors that are trying to cancel JK Rowling, not vice versa. Apparently, they think that Rowling can't have an opinion that is not their own. What stupidity.

I'm never this early, so leaving a comment not very related to the video: You should be a voice-over artist (if not already). Your voice is so enthusiastic and expressive. I tried VO work before and found it so hard because I'm more a visual actor (more an eyebrows kinda performer lol). Good luck!
