The ColorOS shift did it for me. No more OnePlus no matter how good of a hardware they provide. OxygenOS was the differentiating factor for OnePlus and Oppo.

Marques always gets the tiny details spot on. The runtime of this video is 11:00!

Unpopular opinion but wireless charging really isn't that big of a deal

I still use one of their 7 series phones, the 7T. The symmetrically placed circular camera bump made it stand out, and still does today. Didn't really like the ColorOS shift but I have got used to it. Overall, a phone from 2019 still works well in 2023 with minimal to no issues, kudos to the OP of that time.

the OnePlus 7 Pro was almost perfect...the popup selfie camera was sick

The stuff you pointed out about the UI are some things that you notice if you really use the phone. I know cuz color os, realme UI or oxygen OS whatever you want to call it is all I have used since last 8 years. That's so nice to see that a reviewer actually using a phone from the perspective of an actual user and not just for the sake of reviewing it. Keep it up Marques.

I've had OnePlus phones for years now. I understand there has to be some balance or trade off to be a flagship killer when it comes to hardware or licensed functionality. What I dont get is why OnePlus apply that same approach to their *own* OS. It's always like "well now we've added these things, but at the same time we took away some other things that you really liked" ... Always only small things, but like Marcus says, they start to add up. It's now at a point where although it'll be a while before I upgrade, I already know I wont be going for a OnePlus for my next phone.

I've been with the 7Pro since September '19, had the glass panels repaired a couple of times and still mostly works like a charm! But I'm waiting for that release where they reach the same level of all-round integrity matching what the 7Pro was back then. Hopefully the 12 pulls through!!!

I am appreciating the intro animation more and more especially after I saw how it came to be in the studio channel.

As of yesterday, they have fixed most of the bugs/quirks, including a few big ones that werent mentioned in the video. The only ones left are the two taps to go to Spotify and the swipe to expand group notifications. Oh and actually you can still swipe in only one direction, but after the first week of using the phone, ive literally never accidentally swiped the other way, it becomes muscle memory, so not an issue

I'm on my OnePlus 5T with Spigen guard, a beast yet using more than 5yrs. The battery experience was little bit down to 7-8hrs comparing to the day I opened out of box was 11-12hrs in one full charge.

The 7 Pro is amazing, I bought mine shortly after launch, in April 2019 I think, and it's still going strong. My brother has the same and we just replaced his battery because he also wants to keep it around for as long as possible.

Ah I feel those notification peeves. Just little things like that which have a simple fix, but if oneplus listens and improves they could be trending back to a good direction. For now I'm still probably going with a more recent flagship that came out.

I really like the notification swipe thing actually, seems like something from MI UI where I could swipe slowly to toggle on/off for a specific type of notification! It was very handy to not get some type of notifications from an app. Except I'm pretty sure that I could quickly swipe away in any direction to dismiss, unlike here.

Just bought an almost new one for 300 bucks, for that money any other phone can go f itself 😅 i had the 7t and 9pro and i just wait one year and 900 dollars become 3-400 slightly used. I never buy at release you pay unnecessary premium 😅

I had the one plus 7 pro for years, it was great. Bought it off your video that said it was stupid fast. I swapped to iPhone 13 Pro Max but still miss some of the android shortcuts and keyboard behaviors

0:23 Agreed, the Oneplus 7 Pro is indeed their high mark. Mine is on the latest Android 13 and will be going strong years from now thanks to Lineage OS.

I'm still running my 6t, it's only been this year that I've noticed that is started to slow down and battery is getting worse. It's still fine for now but I am looking to upgrade. I was happy to see them coming back to their roots, but to be honest I don't think I can go from OxygenOS to ColorOS. Price and specs are one thing, but how you interact with the device is probably the most important thing and getting a new phone that is going to frustrate you because you had it better on a phone from 2018.

Nice that you pointed it out, still running my OnePlus 7 Pro and it performs as if it just came out the box, love it.
