This song relates to a later twenty one pilots song called “We Don’t Believe What’s on TV”. In that song he finds someone who gives him meaning in life and he looks forward to growing old instead of dreading it like in this song. I love how many of their songs are a narrative like that and we see Tyler develop as a person through their albums.

this song hits hard after watching my grandfather develop dementia and watching my parents coming to terms with that and recently when i visited my grandma she was checking the obituaries in the newspaper to see if anyone she knows had died, i can't imagine getting to that point in my life. Tyler talks about one of his grandfathers not recognising him before he died in a later song of theirs, Legend, that's really beautiful. i think at times it can be confronting to think about the passing of time and family dying and getting older yourself but i like how the lyrics kinda contrast the upbeat melody and i think it's a topic we shouldn't shy away from talking about because it happens to everyone, it's a part of life.

Pantaloon/Pantalone is a character from Italian Commedia dell'Arte, and generally represents an old fool. It's not a commonly known character nowadays, so don't feel too bad about not knowing that!

Great video! I really love this song, you'll notice (if you haven't already lol) that a good handful of their songs have a happy tune but are really quite sad.
