That’s a clever tactic. Swatch placement is a big deal (as far as design goes) having some samples on different walls across from direct light etc, and even checking at key times of the day can completely change perspective.

You can also pick up a sample of pure white paint and paint a small square of the wall, then tape up the swatches over the pure white to get an idea of what they actually look like.
