You can also set it equal to x, and then square both sides of the equation. So,
3+2√2 +2√((3+2√2)(3-2√2)) +3-2√2 = x²
6+2√(9-8) = x²
8 = x² and since the original expression is greater than 0, x is greater than 0, so
x= 2√2
