Earbuds that don’t make me want to die - Nothing Ear (open)

Показать описание

Adam's got sensitive ears which means he typically carries around bulky headphones when he wants to do some mobile listening, but the new Nothing Ear (open) earbuds may just be the solution for him. Nothing's newest earbuds don't actually sit in your ears so they don't feel too stuffy to wear, but is that at the sacrifice of audio quality?

Purchases made through some store links may provide some compensation to Linus Media Group.

Original title "Earbuds that don’t make me want to die"

(Just in case they change it later)

This title is so damn real, especially as someone w super sensitive ears. Finding good quality earphones that aren't literally physically painful sucks ass

Didn't expect the Not Just Bikes reference. I actually prefer the in-ear earbuds in my left to protect my hearing from the noise of engines.

3:05 Regarding the 'sound seal technology'
I watched the development video they put out for these.
This 'sound seal technology' they speak of is using phase inversion to cancel out whatever you're playing.
Basically they have a second, outward facing speaker on the earbuds that plays an inversion of whatever you're listening to so that the outward sound is deadened, at least in theory.

This is the same process behind all active noise cancellation, but just used in the opposite direction in this case. On noise cancelling headphones, they will have a microhphone picking up outside noises, and the headphones will invert that noise and play it through the speakers, deadening the outside noise.

If you want to know more about that process, search for 'wave interference', or specifically 'destructive wave interference'.
This works for more than just sound waves as well, it is the case for any waveform.

This video explains the process really well

‏‪9:10‬‏ the moment they realized that open earbuds review is meaningless without testing them out of the sound control studio

for cycling I would still rather use bone conduction headphones that don't block your ear canal at all. These do to some extent

I never understood how people could enjoy the feeling that you've shoved your fingers in your ears while listening to music.

Since you guys have started getting more and more into IEMs, I hope you guys start getting into the higher end category for flatheads, most of which are boutique brands

This is why I've always used bone conducting headphones since large headphones are not allowed at my workplace but earbuds are. Can't wait to see if this gets developed further.

Just wanted to say Adam has been a good addition to LMG. He seemed a little inconspicuous initially, but he’s a good host and I enjoy the videos he writes for LTT.
