#shorts
Using Diluted Bleach as a Mouthwash has been asked about frequently by lots of our patients and viewers. Many people may think of this as an anomaly, or something that nobody would ever dream of doing. However, studies have shown that DILUTED bleach rinses can actually be very effective at killing the bacteria that cause gum disease.
The key word here is DILUTED!
YOU DO NOT WANT TO RAISE A BOTTLE OF CHLOROX BLEACH TO YOUR LIPS AND DRINK FROM IT! You must practice this technique very carefully and under the EXACT methods and tactics described in this video.
Dr Nemeth and "The Office of Joseph R Nemeth, D.D.S. & Associates" is not responsible for any injuries or damages caused by those who properly OR improperly practice this technique.
The proper ratio is 0.25% bleach to water.
1 teaspoon of bleach per 1 cup (8oz) of water.
DO NOT SWALLOW THE RINSE. It can cause irritation or damage to your mouth, esophagus, stomach and internal organs.
Other studies have shown that killing bacteria in the mouth using Chlorhexidine or other strong mouthwashes can increase blood pressure. If you have hypertension or high blood pressure, one should avoid (or use caution when implementing) this technique.
Supporting Studies
Using a bleach mouthwash can be very effective if done properly and carefully! Remember, a Healthy Mouth means a Healthy Body.
Rinse carefully.
