"Brother or close relative"!!! You need to amend that question to include the There's always a buddy that knows all about how things should be done and what they cost. Lol. Great video guys!!

😂 The "My brother's a builder" or "My friends a builder" is hilarious. If clients say that to me, I ask them why their brother/friend isn't building their project for them.
Also the "I'd do the job myself if I wasn't so busy" line is one of my favourites 🤣

This is 100% the Truth! Then when the homeowner tells you how to do your job and how long it will take and what it should cost!

LOOOL that pintrest one was too good. I used to work at Home Depot and the amount of people trying to build things they saw on pintrest they thought was simple was unreal

Damn this is spot on!

GD Pinterest and hgtv have really screwed peoples brains up. Sure, I'll do a pallet wall feature for you. It will cost extra. No I WILL NOT build your 2nd story wrap around deck out of reclaimed pallets. No shiplap is not a suitible alternative (Yes a real question I have gotten)

I will not take clients like that. I do not have enough time or patience for that.
Anymore, I prefer that client who wants a nice home, but doesn't care so much about being trendy as they do how energy efficient and well built the home is. Don't get me wrong, I love to build those eye catchers that wow everyone, but 9 times out of 10 people are trying to get that "look" on a slim budget. I'm not the man for that. I like to sleep sound and I like to build with an extremely sound conscience. More power to the builders out there balloon framing with 2x4's. As long as homes are built that way, I'll keep the crew busy on customs and rebuilds 👍

Lol thanks for the video!
I needed a good laugh. 👊

Love all the videos but this ones the best. I am a subcontractor and hear all the same responses to the questions that were asked

Mrs. Harry Homeowner should be there in person to prevent any miscommunication. All contract matters are in writing with a dictionary for word meanings included. Signatures are witnessed by a valid notary public. All document copies are certified, exemplified and authenticated.

Hit the nail on the head with this
Kinda makes me feel better that I’m not the only one it’s happened too.

Hold on clients calling me again

This one had some good humor to it. I only gave one thumb up, but only because I couldn’t give more. Good job

A client asked me a few weeks ago do you mind if I bring a carpenter on site to do odd jobs (like hanging doors and making cabinets) and I pay him cash. My answer was simple, not while we are here. LOL. Great episode by the way.

That was an awesome video my man. I totally agree with every question. I am not a homebuilder but I am a contractor. The ballpark thing and relative contractor are the worst. Give me a ballpark, but I won't hold you to it. Lol. Pure gold my friend.

Ugh, yes! I do smaller remodels but my hall of fame is “ hey when you pull up this tile save it so we can use it in our other bathroom” what? One lady the first day I showed up to start gave me the walking/feeding schedules of all her dogs, um no thank you. A job about 2 months ago about a week into the project a lady said she wanted built in benches with storage all along this 25’ wall, I said no problem and gave her the bid for it a couple of days later and she says “wait?! We already agreed upon an amount on this remodel”. And I had to explain that everything added on after doesn’t magically fall under that original number I’m a contractor not Santa Claus (I didn’t really say that but I wanted to )

Hahaha... for me the best one is "how long do you think it'll take... a week?"
