The TERRIFYING Last Moments of Legendary Climber Dan Osman

Показать описание
A 35-year-old rock climber that many would describe as insane, Dan Osman was like a real-life spiderman. He would scale terrifying heights with nothing but a bit of chalk, the clothes on his back, and a grip as strong as his willpower.

Dan was a legend in the world of rock climbing, and he still holds records for being the fastest free climber, until a freak accident took his life unexpectedly.

In an ironic twist of fate, it wasn’t even free soloing that brought him to his last terrifying moments.

This is his legendary story.

I agree with those who say if you have kids, especially young kids, don't do this kind of dangerous climbing. It is more important for you to be there for them as they grow up

I watched helmet cam video of a wingsuit flyer that hit the trees. One commenter stated that he died happy doing what he loved but the scream I heard didn't sound very happy.

He was driven to pushing his luck far past it's breaking point and living to tell about it until he wasn't!

The problem with accomplishing death defying feats is that each victory gives the illusion of invincibility.

Damn. So sad for a child to lose a parent if they loved that parent dearly. I couldn't imagine having my kid go thru that trauma. Accidents are one thing, but putting myself in dangerous situations for a thrill is a no go for me. I have so much fun with my kid. That's all the thrill i need.

He who lives by the sword, dies by the sword. Like any adrenaline junkie he might have been self medicating his depression or anxiety. Such a sad loss.

One inaccuracy in this video is “he died unexpectedly”.

He did not have the 'mindset of an engineer' or he wouldn't have jumped with that old rope that had been used to check a fall when setting the record jump. It was left hanging in the elements for how long? I remember thinking that he must have had suicidal thoughts to be so irresponsible.
I have a big safety belt for climbing work cranes, and it says on the label, ' belt should be disposed of if used for a fall arrest 😢

DANO IS A LEGEND....There are some aspects of this that are not fully accurate. I dont know why Dan jumped the day he died. He should have known better...he broke his own rules for safe "rope free falling" -- I wish Miles could have stopped him. But it was not meant to be. Glad to had met him and captured some of the images shown. He was a JEDI and he produced a beautiful daughter. RIP DANO....you will never be forgotten.

So very sad.... RIP Dan. Altho harsh, I consider: is there a point where 'courage' becomes 'stupidity' .... perhaps....

Free soloing is one of the stupidest displays of bravado in any sport. It's the equivalent of riding downhill MTB without armour or a helmet. It doesn't make you better at the sport.

Crazy 90% of climbers under 40 don't even know who 'Dan O' is. I'll never forget when my mom called me and asked 'did you know Daniel Osman'? I said no, ....wait Dan O?? She had read about it in the Fresno Newspaper -way before news apps and current modes of lightning speed info sharing. We used to watch Masters of stone videos barely able to get up an 11a in the late 90's marveling at Dan O's skills So tragic that he was on a crash course with destiny. NO one ever imagined he would die from a snapped rope....

It's hardly "unexpected" when you participate in such extreme activities

Dan osman daughter spoke on how her father spent alot of his time helping others and would scrape some money together too send to her. She said her mother did a great job raising her but she never mentioned her father being a great dad.

It’s almost like the park service tried to save his life but this dude just wanted to do whatever he wanted. Wild way to live with a 4 yr old that loves you.

Someone rebuilt the rope rig in the same spot and recreated his last jump 23 years later. For what it's worth, I think that would have made Dan really happy.

That picture of Mike Hatchett is not Mike Hatchett; that's Ron Kauk (Yosemite Climber).
