In this video I go through a method that I sometimes use to help me design characters in Photoshop. I cover creating a couple custom brushes from a scanned image and modifying default brush settings to quickly find a character within the image. (Sorry about the left panned audio in the begining and end will have a fix up soon).

quick question, how do i get that smooth brush tracer you were using? I tried tracing out my character and it just comes out to strong..
your videos give me inspiration, thanks Daniel

I usually start at 2000X2000 minimum. If I am just doing a thumbnail I start at 400X400 and when I have done arough and am going to turn it into an animated character in AFX I make it at least 4000 high for a human. At least double the resolution of the final output format.
